That’s why we’ve invested in equipment that gives your gums the easiest ride when we remove the plaque and tartar that’s causing problems.

Most importantly though, our hygienists are personable and welcoming, and we find this gentle and friendly chairside manner that keeps our patients returning.

As a private dental practice, we have invested in technology, including:

Ultrasonic hand scalers: An efficient and gentle alternative to hand-scaling equipment. Ultrasonic hand scalers work quickly, reducing your time in the chair.

Airflow tooth polishing: Gentle polish using compressed air and water to remove tenacious bits of plaque in between your teeth. This equipment helps your hygienist to perform a near-perfect cleaning of your gum line. We are one of the few practices in our area to offer this.

Cavitron ultrasound scaler: Gentle vibrations and steady water flow loosen debris. A small tip is used to clean more challenging areas of the mouth. No sharp edges and provides a fast-cleaning experience for patients.

Plaque is a harmful byproduct, created when you eat even very small amounts of sugar.

Once plaque settles along your gum line, it needs to be professionally removed by a hygienist, generally every 6-12 months.

The plaque that builds up along your gum line is the same plaque that can enter the bloodstream and cause blockages to the heart, so it’s very important to keep on top of your dental hygiene.

This depends on the type of symptoms you have sustained. We will first take digital X-rays to establish if gum disease has started to deteriorate your gum and bone levels.

We may then use one or more of the techniques below:

• Non-surgical removal of plaque and tartar suffocates your gum tissue.
• Closing pockets that form in your gums.
• Surgical gum graft to reattach lost gum tissue.
• A process called root planing and debriding is used to reach plaque that has settled on the roots of your teeth.
